FC New England is a soccer club that provides individual players with the opportunity of a lifetime, to represent New England and the USA at some of the world largest youth soccer tournaments. In 2022 they will be taking teams to both the Gothia Cup in Sweden and Donosti Cup in Spain.
The directors have been traveling and providing this experience to players through the USA since 2000 and have made some great friends during our journeys. Every summer they take talented soccer players over to Europe to compete alongside some of the worlds most powerful soccer nations. We enter teams on both the boys’ and girls’ side starting at U10 all the way up through U18. If you have ever dreamed of playing soccer in Europe or seeing for yourself how you match up against the rest of the World then this is this trip for you.
For the lucky players selected from across the county, we watch these players come together for 11 days to compete against teams from every corner of the globe. The trip starts with a brief training camp in a major European city (Copenhagen for Gothia Cup and Barcelona for Donosti Cup) consisting on practices and friendly games as well as sightseeing and other cultural activities. They then transfer to Gothenburg (Gothia Cup) or San Sebastian (Donosti Cup) for the main event!
The first edition of the Donosti Cup was held in August 1992 with 32 participating teams. Nowadays, this is the biggest tournament in the southern Europe and one of the larger ones in the world with around 600 teams from 30+ countries. From the opening ceremony in the stadium of La Liga Club Real Sociedad with over 25,000 people to the thrill of the group stages all the way through to the final games the Donosti Cup is a soccer experience not to be missed!
It is important to read this information and the associated tabs carefully. The Terms and Conditions include our Payment Policy, Cancellation Policy, Validity of Prices, Liability details and other important information
Additional Passengers Additional passengers (parents, siblings, relatives, friends etc.) are welcome (and encouraged) to join the tour at any time as long as seats are available on the airline’s group reservation. Any passengers joining the tour after the airline group reservation has been filled has deposited will be subject to airline costing on that date.
Airline Information Airlines reserve the right to increase their departure tax (based on airport fees / government security taxes) and fuel surcharges at any time. To maintain the quoted tour price it is essential that the payment installments are received on the stated dates. To minimize any increases Quest Sports Travel strongly recommends that the group ‘ticket’ all passengers as early as possible. ‘Ticketing’ requires payment in full to the airline. Once ticketed, airfare costs are non-refundable.
Departure City: The departure city for this tour will be NY (Newark or JFK). At the time of quotation the amount included for group airfare and taxes is an estimated $1200. All efforts are made to secure the most direct and cost effective routing. Routing and cost implications will be discussed with tour leaders before publication of flight details. Flight details will be available by September 15th, 2021.
Airline Deposit: Airlines deposits become non-refundable by the airline 91 days+ prior to departure. To be included in the group airfare pricing registration is required before March 20, 2022. After that date passengers can still be added, but price will be based on purchase at applicable fare on that purchase date. It may also still be possible to be added to the group reservation after that date, but the airline reserves the right to increase pricing for late additions.
Flight Deviations: Airline rules allow flight deviations for individual passengers on either the departure or the return legs of the group reservation, as long as the return is made from the same airport as the main group. Airlines charge a deviation fee to do so. The fee depends on the airline. Airlines may also limit the time pre/post tour of travel and may charge additional cost based on availability on date of travel
Land Only Passengers: If you do not live in the NY area and would like to make your own flight arrangements from another airport, you can travel as a ‘Land Only’ passenger. In doing so, your tour price will be reduced by the exact cost of airfare and taxes. At the time of the quote, this land only tour price estimate is $2750 per person. If required, Quest Sports Travel can assist in securing airfare from your airport of choice. Likewise, if you opt to secure your own airfare using frequent flyer miles (see below) you will also travel on a ‘Land Only’ basis. If you are traveling “Land Only” you must inform Quest Sports Travel at least 91 days prior to departure so that your seat is released before it becomes payable in full and non-refundable.
Frequent Flyer Programs: Airlines do not accept frequent flier miles as payment for group airfare. If a traveler wishes to use frequent flier miles they must secure their own airfare and will pay Quest Sports Travel a ‘Land Only’ cost. No alterations will be made to the published itinerary to service individuals traveling separately from the main group
Laws This agreement is subject to the laws and jurisdiction of the state of New York.
Local Laws: Passengers are required to abide by all local laws, including any customs and health & safety protocols. Any breach of this requirement may result in removal from the tour and passengers will be required to return home at their own expense.

Payment Method Quote prices assume payment by ACH or check. Processing fees will be added at checkout if paying by credit card. Fees are 2.9% for VISA / MasterCard and 3.9% for American Express. Credit card processing fees are non-refundable in addition to any stated cancellation fees at the time of withdrawal from the tour.

Travel Party Roster An accurate final travel party roster is due by April 13th, 2022 for airline ticketing. Should a change be necessary after ticketing a new ticket must be issued and paid in full at the rate quoted at the time of new issue. If the final Travel Party Roster is not submitted by the aforementioned date the airline reserves the right to CANCEL the reserved seats.

Quest Sports Travel must fulfill responsibilities with vendors (e.g. airlines, hotels) in advance of the tour and is therefore only able to refund cancellations as follows (per person):
Until 11/30/21 = No Penalty
Cancel after 11/29/21 but before 01/30/22 = $425.00 penalty per person
Cancel after 01/29/22 but before 03/30/22 = $850.00 penalty per person
Cancel after 03/29/22 but before 04/14/22 = $1250.00 penalty per person

All cancellations must be in writing (email) and received by Quest Sports Travel before the stated dates in order to receive the appropriate refund. Refund payments are made as quickly as vendor reimbursements allow.
Please note, if you purchase Travel Insurance whether through our recommended provider Arch RoamRight or independently, Insurance Premiums are also non refundable in addition to the penalty amounts listed above.
All credit card processing fees are non-refundable as they are not returned to us by the credit card companies if we need to process a refund.
Force Majeure - In the event Quest Sports Travel is unable to perform its obligations under the terms of this Agreement because of acts of God, pandemic or other causes reasonably beyond its control, Quest Sports Travel shall not be liable for damages beyond the amounts agreed in the cancellation policy from such failure to perform or otherwise from such causes.
***Review the Covid Policy tab for details on how the pandemic could effect the published cancellation policy
Our Cancellation Policy has been developed with vendors to extend "no penalty" stages as long as possible. Dates published in the cancellation policy allow full refunds for a far greater period of time than pre-Covid tours allowed.
Both air and land vendors do require some cancellation fees once we get within a certain time from departure. These will apply in all instances.
If travel is limited before the full refund period expires we will discuss with the group whether to proceed or cancel in time to protect everyone's deposits.
As occurred in 2020, should travel become limited again after the full refund date passes, Quest Sports Travel will utilize best efforts to re-negotiate these contracts with vendors. Industry standard is to provide credit for future travel in lieu of non-refundable deposits - so we anticipate a credit option again should the tour have to be cancelled once we pass the full refund date.
Force Majeure. In the event Quest Sports Travel is unable to perform its obligations under the terms of this Agreement because of acts of God, pandemic or other causes reasonably beyond its control, Quest Sports Travel shall not be liable for damages beyond the amounts agreed in the cancellation policy from such failure to perform or otherwise from such causes.

2022 FC New England Donosti Cup
The form requests passenger information, contact details etc. and asks you to accept the Terms and Conditions (payment schedule, cancellation policy etc.) reviewed in the tabs below on this site.
Q) Are the players only selected from the New England Region?
No, we were formerly FC CT but with such a high demand from outside the state, FC New England was born! We fully expect and welcome players from across the country
Q) How are players selected?
Our directors have extensive coaching experience and contacts throughout the US. They are very familiar with the different leagues, tournament across the country and regularly watch players from different states compete against each other. Armed with this experience the directors will reach out to players from a top team in the country, or if you are playing in a top league throughout the country. You can also apply by filling out our players questionnaire or lastly through a recommendation from a coach. From here the directors review each player often reaching out to prospective players coaches before offering out a place on the team.
Q) What level of player are you looking for?
We look for the highest level of player in order to compete in the competition. In recent years, players that have travelled with us have went on to play at Ohio State, UConn, Harford, Georgetown, Cornell, Colgate and Rutgers. We also had two players represent Jamaica at the recent Womens World Cup, and we have 3 players that have graduated and are now playing professionally in the USA, Portugal and Italy.
Q) If my son daughter is offered a spot, how long to we have to decide?
Before accepting a spot, players will be provided a full detailed itinerary of what the trip looks like on a day to day basis as well as providing a very detailed list of exactly what is included and what’s not included. You will also be able to meet/speak to one of the program directors with any questions you may have before you make a decision.
Q) What is the supervision like on the tour?
Very strict, we travel every year to both Denmark and Sweden and each team has a full-time coach who is with the team at all times also and a full-time tour guide (from the local area) to help with the supervision. On top of that the directors are there to oversee the whole trip as well as having a lead tour guide who oversees the tour. Players (no matter their age) are never allowed to wonder free without adult supervision.
Q) Can family members travel?
Yes, and are welcomed to join us on the trip. Parents and guardians are not required to travel with the players as we ensure the players are supervised at all times. However, we have many families who decide to make this trip of a lifetime and make it a family vacation or some who travel with one family member with the player. Family members are fully included in all activities that we do they are never excluded.
Q) Where does the team depart from?
We depart from New York; this is where players will meet the coach and the trip starts. We encourage players from across the country to meet us at NY. We do have some players that travel direct to Denmark and join the team there (please ask for more details regarding this).
Q) How many players are selected for each team
Rosters sizes are kept small for example on an older full sided team (11 v 11) we would only take 16 players to ensure good game time for all the players. For goalkeepers we will take two goalkeepers per team if we feel they are both of equal ability, otherwise we select one.
Q) Where does the team and family member stay
Many teams that travel stay in school dorms, however our experience has led us to always stay in hotels. We pride ourselves in the quality of hotels we stay at. Like many tournaments in the US the Donosti Cup often allocates hotels for teams however due to our relationship built over the years we have full control of where we stay. Players, Coaches and family members all stay in the same location!
Q) Does this team effect my regular club team in any way?
No, your regular club team is ALWAYS the priority, we only come together to play in the summer tournament. Most if not all club teams, tournaments have ended before we depart. Speak to the directors if for example your team makes a national championship and it conflicted with the dates of our trip.
Q) Does the team practice before they leave the US
This depends on the make up of the team, for example if the majority of the team are within a few hours drive of each other, we have in the past had a few practices. Players from further afield would not be expected to attend. If logistically this is not feasible then we would not practice. Regardless the pre-tournament in Barcelona would be the time to bring the team together in both practices and friendly games. The team would have the chance to communicate with each other prior to leaving via zoom calls etc.
Q) Are there any fundraising opportunities for players to raise some of the money needed to travel
Yes, every player is provided with fundraising package in the form of raffle tickets where they keep 100% of what they sell. This has proved to a huge asset to previous players.

Watch highlights from a previous tour to the Gothia Cup in Sweden
My trip to the Gothia Cup was my first experience playing internationally. Lookingback, it was around that time that I realized that I wanted to continue to play at the highest level against women from all over the world. Traveling and going to the Gothia Cup was a big part of that realization. I remember the trip being extremely fun and exciting as well as a great opportunity to learn about myself as a player. My favorite part was obviously winning the tournament and being able to ride around town on the upperdeck of a tour bus celebrating the victory!.

In my experiences during club, we never went to showcases that were abroad. We had many local tournaments and showcases that were great experiences, but nothing compared to the Gothia Cup. I can easily say that this tournament was the best experience I had ever had on and off the field. One of the best days was the opening ceremony for the tournament. If you have seen the Olympics or world cup opening ceremony it is exactly like that.

Fantastic trip for athletes as well as their families! The international experience was incredible, with competitive soccer, world class accommodations, and unmatched cultural experiences all adding up to memories for a lifetime!

Hi, I’m Reese Sutter and I went to the Gothia Cup in Sweden when I was 14 years old. I am going to be a freshman this coming fall at the University of Pennsylvania and will be playing Women’s Soccer there. I would recommend this trip to anyone as it was an such amazing experience. Being able to explore a foreign country was unlike anything I have done before, not to mention the competitive atmosphere created by the other players from around the world. It felt like I was playing at the World Cup. If you have the opportunity to attend this event you certainly should !!
