Saxons Tour Costa Rica

Alfred University Women’s Soccer took their first tour in program history over Winter Break 2017 with an 8 night trip to Costa Rica. Head Coach Aileen Ascolese saw the tour as a wonderful way to enhance the program with both exceptional team building opportunities for current players and tremendous recruiting potential as a carrot for future players.

The Saxon’s divided their time between the capital San José, the rainforest around Arenal and the Pacific coast in the beach resort of Dominical. They plated 3 games against top Costa Rican Women’s Teams and trained twice at the best local facilities with their own staff

Remarkable nature and environment

As with any trip to Costa Rica the real highlight was discovering the immense environmental diversity of the country. From Volcanic carters and hot springs, to tropical rainforest and idyllic beaches Costa Rica offers it all. Alfred U took advantage of it in the best way – ziplining through the rainforest, white water rafting the Pacuare River, volunteering at the Hacienda Baru National Wildlife Refuge and simply relaxing on the beach.
